Guy Painchaud

President and Director

As Eolectric’s president since the company’s foundation in 2001, Guy Painchaud oversees strategic policies, development, partner relationships and financing of the company’s activities.

He has in this capacity orchestrated multiple projects of wind-farms in Canada, among other things, by establishing in 2012, a dedicated investment fund, Eolectric Club, L.P. He was notably co-founder and administrator of Ventus Energy Inc. (2004-2008) and the developer of several wind farms in Ontario and in the Maritimes.

Guy Painchaud began his career in wind power as president and founder of GPCo inc. (1994-2010), which became one of the main engineering offices in renewable energy in North America. As such, he was the co‑developer of RETScreen®, an application used in assessing renewable energy projects.

Before, he has worked as an energy research engineer at CANMET and as an energy specialist at the Centre de recherche industrielle du Québec (CRIQ), at the Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique de France and at Imatran Voima Oy in Finland. He holds a bachelor's degree in Applied Sciences in Mechanical Engineering from Laval University (1986), a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (specializing in wind energy) from the University of Massachusetts (1988) and an MBA from McGill University (1996).

Strong supporter and promoter of wind energy, Guy Painchaud has served on numerous committees, including four years on the board of the Canadian Wind Energy Association, of which one year as chairman. Actively involved for close to 20 years in the development of wind energy, Guy enjoys a worldwide reputation as a wind energy expert and as a Canadian leader of that industry.
