Éolectric enters the solar energy sector with the submission of a first 18–24 MW project in Sept-Îles
Brossard, Québec, April 2026-In partnership with the City of Sept-Îles and the Innu community of Uashat mak Mani-utenam (ITUM), Éolectric has submitted a solar power project in Sept-Îles as part of Hydro-Québec’s A/O 2025-01 call for tenders.
The project involves the installation of a photovoltaic solar power plant with an installed capacity of 25 MW, connected to Hydro-Québec’s distribution network. Through its capacity, the facility will significantly contribute to the regional energy supply while enhancing the resilience and diversification of the Côte-Nord’s power generation mix.
The proposed solar facility will be built on a former landfill site that was also used as a golf course for several years and is now unused. The redevelopment of this previously disturbed site optimizes land use while avoiding impacts on sensitive natural environments.
The development and execution of the project are based on a strategic partnership with the City of Sept-Îles and ITUM, both of which will hold equity in the project. This co-development approach aims to ensure a fair distribution of economic benefits, strengthen social acceptability, and support strong integration within the host community.
