Eolectric Inc. announced the repurchase of interests in Biomont Énergie made in December 2023
Brossard, Qc, May 2024, Eolectric Inc., developer and operator of renewable energy projects based in Quebec, announced the repurchase of interests in Biomont Énergie made in December 2023, a biogas cogeneration plant with a capacity of 4.8 MW located in Montreal, owned by Valeco, French leader in the development of renewable energies. This transaction allowed Éolectric Inc. to increase and consolidate its current participation in the operations of Biomont Énergie.
The cogeneration plant recovers and valorizes biogas from a former landfill site in the St-Michel district north of Montreal and produces electricity and thermal energy in accordance with the electricity supply contract with HydroQuébec Distribution. The plant provides a portion of thermal energy in the form of brine hot water circuits for the district heating needs of Cirque du Soleil and TOHU establishments.
Éolectric Inc. was already involved in the ownership of Biomont Énergie through Éolectric Capital Inc., a joint venture between Éolectric Inc. and Fondaction, one of the two largest labor funds in Quebec.
