Éolectric obtains Certificate of Determination from the Government of New Brunswick for the Papoqji'jg Wind Project
BROSSARD, Quebec, July 14, 2026 — Éolectric announced today that the New Brunswick Department of Environment and Local Government has issued the Certificate of Determination for the Papoqji'jg Wind Project, marking a key regulatory milestone in the development of this 63-megawatt (MW) wind farm located in Restigouche and Northumberland Counties, near the Caribou Depot site, approximately 40 km southwest of Bathurst.
The decision follows the provincial government's technical review committee's assessment of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) submitted as part of the environmental assessment process, as well as the EIA amendment filed in 2026. The certificate allows the Project to proceed to its next stages of development, subject to the conditions attached to it.
The Papoqji'jg Project: Developed in partnership with Pabineau First Nation, the Papoqji'jg wind project is part of a vision to decarbonize the regional power grid. With an installed capacity of 63 MW, the wind farm will supply the equivalent of thousands of New Brunswick homes with clean, renewable, and affordable energy. Construction is set to begin shortly, targeting commercial operation in 2028.
“Receiving the Certificate of Determination is a defining milestone for Papoqji'jg. This milestone confirms the rigour of the environmental work carried out and brings us closer to building a project that will make a tangible contribution to New Brunswick's energy transition,”
